POINT FIGHTBACK STUNS PORTSTEWART
Warrenpoint Town had to come from behind at Portstewart to keep up their promotion push in the Playr-Fit Premier Intermediate League.
The Seahawks raced into an early lead through Ciaran O’Hara after 16 minutes.
Portstewart’s impressive start continued as they doubled their lead through Matthew McNeill just five minutes later.
Warrenpoint Town finally came into the game with 32 minutes elapsed in the first half, as Michael Leddy headed home to reduce the lead.
The border club came out of the traps at Mullaghacall in the second half, as Crane broke on the counter-attack and Leddy scored his and Warrenpoint’s second just before the hour mark, to draw the sides level.
Warrenpoint soon went on front six minutes after levelling, as captain Jim O’Hanlon stepped up to score from the penalty spot to secure the three points and keep the ‘Point within five points of leaders Dollingstown and remain in second position in the table.
