HUGHES SECOND HALF BRACE SEALS QUEENS VICTORY
Matthew Hughes’ second half double secured a comeback win for Queen’s University at home to Tobermore United
Tobermore, currently the league’s bottom placed side, stunned the home side by taking the league in the first minute of the game through Owen McKeown.
The Students fought back to go in level at the break when Ronan Young headed home after 40 minutes.
Queens’ captain Matthew Hughes took control of the game in the second half, as after having a goal disallowed shortly after the restart – he put the home side in front on 65 minutes finishing off a patient move.
Hughes scored his second of the afternoon, and Queen’s third of the afternoon ten minutes later as he slid the ball home from a great cross from Jack Ovens.
The victory moves the South Belfast club into third place in the Playr-Fit Premier Intermediate League with the visitors still propping up the table.
