Cliftonville Olympic became this season's Reserve League Winners on Saturday.

Their final game was at Solitude, Belfast against Glentoran II. The home team only required a point to clinch the title.

Before the game Cliftonville lay in second place in relation to the league table with rivals Linfield Swifts having the same points.

Linfield did have a superior goal difference however they had already completed their schedule of games for the season.

The Reds made it hard for themselves though going 2-0 down to Glentoran II.

They had to dig deep and they were rewarded late in the second half with the two goals necessary to win the silverware.

Olympic manager Michael Press commented on his squad’s achievements afterwards: "This is my tenth year as Cliftonville Olympic Reserve team manager and our second league title in the space of 3 years.

"We had to start this season with a brand new squad and it is the youngest squad I have worked with.

"For this group of players to win the Reserve League is great for their development and they definitely exceeded their expectations.

"The standard of the reserve league was very high this year so this group of players are worthy winners."
