GLENTORAN BLITZ 'POINT WITH FIRST HALF ROUT
Glentoran stormed past Warrenpoint Town with a stunning four goal first half display at Milltown to seal all three Danske Bank Premiership points at Milltown.
The onslaught began for Warrenpoint after just eight minutes, Hrvoje Plum cross from the right and Gavin Peers reacted first in a crowded penalty box to fire home from close range.
Croatian midfielder Plum started and finished the second goal on 31 minutes, as his interchange with Robbie McDaid opened up the home defence and he placed his effort into the bottom corner.
Things went from bad to worse for Barry Gray on his return to the Milltown dugout, as defender Dermot McVeigh was penalised for a high footed challenge on Robbie McDaid and conceded a penalty for his troubles – Hrvoje Plum coolly dispatched the spot kick for his second goal of the afternoon.
The trickery of winger Navid Nasseri contributed to Glentoran’s fourth and final goal on 44 minutes – he weaved seamlessly past the home defenders before squaring to McDaid who fired past Turker.
The second failed to live up to the excitement of the first half, as Glentoran failied to add to their tally but the three points keeps the East Belfast side fifth in the Premiership table, with Warrenpoint still rooted to the bottom of the standings.
