Celine Curtis bagged a goal in each half as holders Newry City Ladies continued their defence of the League Cup.
Crusaders Strikers started brightly and took the game to the league leaders Newry City Ladies from the start and dominated for the majority of the first half.
Crusaders missed a good opportunity to go 1-0 ahead, captain Julie Nelson heading a fantastic corner delivered by Courtney Moore over the crossbar.
It was Newry who went ahead on the 27th minute, a long ball from Grace Murray putting Aimee Mackin in for a left footed strike, her effort came back off the crossbar and fell kindly to Celine Curtis who headed home from close range.
Crusaders piled the pressure on the Newry goal. Nicole Connolly beat the Newry right back to the by line and fired in a low cross that fell to Emily Wilson, the young striker forced an incredible save from the Newry 'keeper, with the rebound falling to Moore but the 'keeper managed to stop her effort too.
Crusaders were awarded their equaliser on the 36th minute, Connolly carved open the Newry defence with a superb through ball, Moore raced on to the ball and her excellent finish making it 1-1.
The Crues kept pressing Newry high up the pitch and should have went in at half time in the lead, the crossbar saving Newry from a Amy McGivern shot from inside the box proving to be the last kick of the first half.
Newry scored their second early in the second half, a Trudi Harbinson ball catching the Crusaders defence out, 'keeper Leigh Skelton got a hand to Curtis' shot but it wasn’t enough to stop it.
Crusaders kept pressing high and another clever ball from Connolly found a McGivern run, with the midfielder finishing powerfully across the keeper from inside the area on the 60th minute.
The Crusaders defence were caught out twice in quick succession on the 63rd and 68th by Rayza de Souza and Curtis respectively, the former getting across her marker to finish in the bottom corner, and the latter using her pace to get in behind finishing well across the keeper.
Crusaders had good chances through Nelson and Chloe Doak before the final whistle.
