Glentoran secured a statement victory in the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership with a 4-1 victory at defending champions Linfield.
Samantha Kelly scored twice for the Glens with Caragh Hamilton and Danielle Maxwell also on the scoresheet, with Ebony Leckey netting for Linfield.
The Blues had some early pressure but it was Glentoran who made the breakthrough before half time, with Hamilton’s effort deflecting off Louise McFrederick and wrongfooting home goalkeeper Nicole Adams.
Leckey slid home an equaliser for Linfield after Rebecca Bassett’s delivery from the right, but Glentoran then netted three goals in a 10-minute spell to seal the tie.
Kelly rifled the Glens back in front from the edge of the box before scoring directly from a corner, while Maxwell completed the scoring by cutting in from the left and drilling the ball wide of the diving Adams.
