Glentoran welcomed Sion Swifts to the Hammer on Wednesday evening and the home side started off the better team putting the Sion defence under pressure from the whistle.

The Glens were dominating play and their first opportunity fell to Makyla Mulholland who almost got on the end of a corner from the right. In Sion's first attack they were awarded a penalty for a coming together inside the area. Julianne Herrity scored from the spot, making it 1-0 to the visitors against the run of play. Glentoran didn't have long to wait for an equaliser when Lauren Wade scored from a long range shot in the 22nd minute.

Kelly Bailie made it 2-1 to the Glens in the 28th minute from a free kick on the right. The East Belfast side were now dominating the game and should have increased their lead when they hit the bar from a Rachel Rogan shot.

With halftime looming a long ball in the box was poorly dealt with by Glentoran's goalkeeper allowing Amy Carr to score for Sion.

Sion came flying out of the traps early in the second half putting Glentoran under pressure. Their efforts didn't bring any reward against a resolute home defence.

However as the second half continued Sion came more and more into the game with some very competitive challenges for every ball.

As the half wore on Glentoran began to come back into the match and were searching for that winning goal. In the 72nd minute Carr won a tight race for the ball with Laura Gillespie and managed to get onto a rebound to fire home Sion's winner.

As the game approached the closing minutes Glentoran went all out in search of an equaliser but it didn't come despite a few near misses.
