Glentoran welcomed Sion Swifts to the Oval, with the Glens hoping to pick up their first victory of the campaign.

Sion, buzzing from opening their campagn with a three-goal defeat of Derry City last week, travelled to Belfast in high spirits. Both teams showed character on the night in a thrilling draw.

The home side started brightly and had the ball in the net in the 13th minute but Rachel Rogan’s effort was disallowed.

The Glens opened the scoring on 35 minutes when Ali McMaster finished well with a left-foot finish after picking up a loose ball inside the box. A historic goal for Glentoran as it was their first goal at the Oval this season.

The Swifts scored three minutes later from the penalty spot in the 38th minute, Aimee Mackin stepping up to make to bring the visitors level.

Sion moved in front on the stroke of half-time when Mackin scored her second, firing a left footed shot across the keeper at the Sydenham End.

The second half began tentatively as both teams tried to get into a rhythm but it wasn't to be.

Glentoran threw everything into the final few minutes and got their rewards after Aoife Lennon eventually bundled the ball over the line in the 90th minute to salvage a point.
