Eight Danske Bank Women’s Premiership players started in the Northern Ireland senior team’s three goal defeat to Norway on Tuesday night.

The World Cup qualifier at Shamrock Park against Norway (ranked 14th in the FIFA World Rankings) – followed Friday’s 7-0 defeat to the Netherlands in Eindhoven, and despite the valiant efforts of the Premiership Player of the Year, Lauren Perry – found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline.

Captained by Cliftonville Ladies’ Marissa Callaghan, representatives from the Danske Bank Womens’ Premiership included; Lauren Perry (Linfield), Ashley Hutton (Linfield), Jessica Foy (Glentoran), Julie Nelson (Crusaders Strikers), Kirsty McGuinness (Linfield), Billie Simpson (Cliftonville) and Demi Vance (Glentoran), making up the majority of the starting eleven.

Linfield Ladies’ duo Alison Smyth and Megan Bell were also capped as second half substitutes.

Elsewhere Sion Swifts Ladies’ 16-year-old Amy Boyle Carr made her debut for the Republic of Ireland senior team in their World Cup Qualifying defeat to the Netherlands in Tallaght tonight.

The eagerly anticipated start to the new season is only one week away as the first gameweek of the 2018 Danske Bank Womens’ Premiership kicks-off on Wednesday 18 April.
