Cliftonville Ladies defeated Sion Swifts Ladies in a tight encounter at Solitude to move into third spot in the Danske Bank Women's Premiership.
The first half started with both teams pressing with Cliftonville using home advantage to push forward Sion.
Cliftonville had a lot of chances but mostly these efforts went off target but credit to both teams for a good battle in search of the breakthrough.
After the break Cliftonville seemed to come out all guns blazing, eventually edging in front after 51 minutes. A dangerous corner from Marissa Callaghan was headed goalbound by Billie Simpson which was blocked only as far as Hannah Grieve who duly opened the scoring.
The visitors then equalised just after the hour courtesy of a great strike from Chloe McGlade but, on 69 minutes Cliftonville's Leah McAvoy put the Reds in front again after a fine and accurate shot.
Sion battled hard towards the end of the game and had a good spell of corners while Cliftonville had quite a few chances off their own to close the game off but, in the end, that single goal advantage proved to be enough to secure the points.
