Eight Danske Bank Women’s Premiership stars were in action tonight as the Republic of Ireland hosted Northern Ireland in FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers at Tallaght Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland eventually ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at the home of Shamrock Rovers, thanks to a brace apiece for Leanne Kiernan and Katie McCabe, with Sion Swifts Ladies’ Tyler Toland featuring for the hosts.

The visiting Northern Ireland team featured starts for Billie Simpson (Cliftonville), Jessica Foy (Glentoran Women), Julie Nelson (Crusaders Strikers), Marrisa Callaghan (Cliftonville Ladies), Caragh Milligan (Glentoran Women) with both Megan Bell (Linfield Ladies) and Rebecca McKenna (Linfield Ladies) coming off the bench for caps.

Catherine Hyndman (Sion Swifts Ladies), Louise McDaniel (Linfield Ladies), Emma McMaster (Cliftonville Ladies) were all unsued substitutes.

Alfie Wylie’s side finish their FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign with a home game against Slovakia at Shamrock Park on Tuesday night (kick-off: 7.45pm).
