The NIFL Match Observer Programme has been in place since the formation of the NI Football League to provide independent scrutiny of matches to ensure standards are being maintained in regards match administration within the top level of football in Northern Ireland.
Since 2013 the NI Football League has grown in professionalism on and off the pitch into a vibrant and well respected organisation which is constantly evolving, and we are now seeking committed volunteers with professional experience to give back to the game.
The primary objective of the Match Observer Programme is to provide independent analysis of matches to ensure minimum standards were being maintained in regards to the overall match day administration and submit reports through the relevant football channels.
The Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) is responsible for the appointment and training of all independent Match Observers. The principle of independent observation of match day administration remains the key focus with attention being paid to:
It is in everyone’s interest that good practice, where it exists, is acknowledged, and shared and remedial action taken when minimum standards are not maintained. This process based on `observation and reporting’ can greatly assist in raising standards but requires the support of all in football in Northern Ireland.
