The NI Football League is pleased to announce the leading Academy Player Scholarship Programme is open for application for the September 2020 intake.

Developed in partnership with the Football Management Company, the Academy Player Scholarship supports the most talented post GCSE players from clubs within the NI Football League.

Now into its second year the programme has been a welcome addition to youth development and offers locally based players the opportunity to combine training and education in an environment mirroring that of a full-time club academy.

New for 2020 the partnership is delighted to announce the planned expansion of the highly successful programme with a new female only course in the Belfast campus plus a new satellite campus for the Mid Ulster area.

NI Football League Development Manager Steven Mills said, "The scholarship programme has really added value and better support to our clubs and their players."

"Already we are seeing a number of scholars playing or breaking into first team squads within our Premiership and Championship. With the addition of the female group I am excited with the potential of the programme and can’t wait to see the impact in both the men’s and women’s game."

Director of the Football Management Company Lee Carroll explained the expansion, ‘Due to the success of the programme at the National Stadium at Windsor Park we have been inundated with requests to offer the same opportunity for players outside Belfast alongside a growing interest from female players. For these reasons we are delighted to expand the programme to cover the Mid Ulster area and female players in our Belfast site.’
