'STUTE EDGE PAST QUEEN'S AT THE BRANDYWELL
Institute defeated Queen’s University by the odd goal in five at the Brandywell to move nine points clear of the play-off places with three games remaining.
Mark McFadden opened the scoring for ‘Stute after 12 minutes after pouncing on a moment of hesitation in the box to nod the ball over keeper Conan Doherty.
However, the Students hit back to lead at the break. Leon Bonnes levelled on 25 minutes with a spectacular overhead kick before, in first half stoppage time, Ronan Young beat John Connolly one-on-one.
But ‘Stute recovered to equalise through Brendan McLaughlin just before the hour with a volley into the top corner before, midway through the second half, Jamie Dunne sent the ball beyond Doherty into the top corner from a free-kick.
