Despite a reduced schedule it was a big day at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership with four of the leading five clubs taking to the field.
Defending champions Linfield kicked the afternoon off with a two-goal defeat of last season's runners-up Coleraine at The Showgrounds while, in the evening game at Inver Park, Larne got the better of Crusaders by the odd goal in three.
Andrew Waterworth scored with just over half-an-hour on the clock to hand Linfield the advantage over the Bannsiders before Jordan Stewart doubled their lead not long after the break.
Meanwhile, two quick fire goals from David McDaid and Tomas Cosgrove with midway through the second half put Larne in the driving seat against the Crues but Declan Caddell found the net with ten minutes remaining to set up a nervy finish in the torrential rain.
