Carrick Rangers have moved swiftly to secure the signature of Jim Ervin following his departure from Ballymena United.

The 36-year-old right-back makes the switch to the Loughshore Hotel Arena after the Sky Blues announced he was one of four players being released on Tuesday evening.

Ervin brings with him bags of experience following a successful career that saw him complete seven-and-a-half seasons with Ballymena on top of almost a decade with Linfield.

New Carrick boss Stuart King was pleased to unveil his former team-mate as his first signing since taking over at the club.

"I am delighted to have Jim Ervin on board as my first signing. He is a leader, a winner, and an experienced individual who I know still has a hunger to do well. This signing is another massive statement from the club and one I know will inspire the other players in the squad." he told the official club website.

"Jim is someone I know very well, and I know his leadership qualities are something every club needs. He sets high standards and expects the same from his own teammates."
