Newington returned to the top of the Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League on a night their fellow title challengers stumbled a little.

The Swans defeated Limavady United by the odd goal in three at Solitude to move a point clear following goals early in the second half from Tiarnan McNicholl and Gary Warwick with the Roesiders, outside contenders themselves, pulling one back in stoppage time from the spot through Alex Pomeroy.

Bangor started the evening on top but dropped to second following a 2-2 draw away to Dollingstown. Both sides scored either side of the break with Daniel Gordon opening the scoring for the Dollybirds and Nicholas Aretzis levelling early in the second half.

Jamie Glover then edged the Seasiders in front not long after the hour but Ben Neill struck nine minutes after that to see the game end all square.

Armagh City endured a frustrating evening away to Banbridge Town, failing to find the net and having to settle for a scoreless draw as they fell a place to third.

But Lisburn Distillery had no such problems in front of goal, hitting six past the PSNI at Breda Park.
