Ards have confirmed the appointment of Matthew Tipton as their new first team manager.

The Welshman arrives at Clandeboye Park to replace John Bailie who parted ways with the club at the end of January, while Tipton himself left his post at Portadown around the same time.

In a statement on the official club website Ards chairman Warren Patton said: "We believe we have made a top class appointment. We’re excited to see what Matthew can do with our squad, and we’re looking forward to working with him."

Tipton's first game as Ards manager will be Tuesday night’s trip to Lakeview Park to play Loughgall in the Lough 41 Championship.
