Cliftonville Ladies and Sion Swifts Ladies go head-to-head for the first piece of domestic silverware this season in Wednesday night’s Jordan’s Gift Women’s Premiership League Cup final.

Both sides are looking to lift the trophy for the first time in their history with the competition returning this season for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic.

Sion Swifts were defeated 2-0 by Glentoran Women in that year’s final, but their much-changed squad are hopeful of going one better this year following their run to the final.

A double from Kelly Crompton followed Caoirse Doherty’s opener in their three-goal quarter-final win at Derry City Women before beating Linfield Ladies 3-0 on penalties after a scoreless two-hour encounter.

Cliftonville also needed penalties to seal their place in the showpiece as they defeated Lisburn Ladies 5-4 in a semi-final shootout after a goalless match which went all the way.

The Reds had reached the last four stage after an early double from Fionnula Morgan eliminated holders Glentoran.

The final will get underway on Wednesday night at 7.45pm at the Blanchflower Stadium – home of Championship side H&W Welders. Admission - pay at the gate - is £5 for adults and free for U16s. Additionally the game will also be live streamed on the BBC Sport NI website and BBC iPlayer.
