Coleraine fell to a four-goal defeat to Belgian visitors KRC Genk in their UEFA Youth League second round, first leg tie at The Showgrounds.

Despite showing plenty of endeavour the young Bannsiders fell behind midway through the first half after Evan Rotundo found the net from close range after connecting with a corner.

Then, on the half-hour mark, Wilson Da Costa added a second after Nolan Martens had cut the ball back into his path.

The visitors, who had beaten Slavia Prague in the last round, went further ahead through Kamiel Van de Perre who made his way into the area before finishing beyond keeper Billy McDowell into the bottom corner.

Thomas Claes then completed the scoring with five minutes remaining with a tap in into the empty net after rounding McDowell.

The sides meet again next Wednesday in Belguim.
