All roads lead to Stangmore Park on Thursday evening when Cliftonville Ladies and Sion Swifts Ladies go head-to-head in the final of the NIFL Women's Premiership League Cup, kick-off 7:45pm.

It will be a repeat of last year's decider when, after a scoreless 90 minutes, two Cora Chambers strikes in extra-time saw Sion win through to claim their first piece of silverware in five years.

There has only been one previous case of a repeat final in the history of the competition, and the Reds will be hoping for a similar outcome this time around. Back in 2016 Newry City defeated Linfield in the decider but the Blues gained revenge twelve months later when the sides met again.

Sion kicked off their defence of the trophy with a thumping Preliminary Round defeat of Ballymena United Women, following it up by hitting four goals without reply past Mid Ulster Ladies in the quarter-finals and squeezing past Crusaders Strikers in the last four.

Meanwhile the Reds defeated Glentoran Women 3-0 and then hit Linfield for six in a blistering semi-final performance.

John McGrady's side, currently second in the Premiership, have already tasted cup success this season with a Co. Antrim Cup final victory over the Crues, and will also face Lisburn Rangers Ladies in the Women's Challenge Cup semi-final next month while third placed Sion will come up against Glentoran on the same night.

The sides have only met on one other occasion so far this season when, in May, the Reds swept to a four-goal victory at Solitude thanks to a Caitlin McGuinness double in addition to further finishes from Danielle Maxwell and Marissa Callaghan.

Coming into the final the Swifts slipped to a four-goal defeat to Glentoran and played the second half with ten players following Chambers' dismissal just before the break. The Reds, on the other hand, hit double figures with a crushing victory over Larne.

Experienced referee Arleen Campbell will take charge of Thursday's final, assisted by Lauren Trainor and Maria Creaney while Neill Gillespie has been named as the fourth official.
