Dungannon Swifts retained their top flight status with a two-goal defeat of Annagh United in the second leg of the Premiership promotion/relegation play-off at Stangmore Park.

Trailing 2-1 from Tuesday's first leg, the Swifts needed just 13 minutes to level the tie overall when Ryan Donnelly and Marc Walsh combined to tee up Ethan McGee to beat Joel Little at the near post.

Despite being a first half of few opportunities the Swifts could have doubled their advantage on the night when Ryan Mayse drilled an effort just wide of the far post while a later snapshot went into the side netting.

Annagh's best opportunity to date arrived around the hour mark when the ball fell for Gerard Storey only for his effort to go inches over the target.

But, with just over 20 minutes remaining, Dungannon doubled their lead to ultimately secure their Premiership spot when substitute Michael O'Connor ran onto a through ball to lift the ball over keeper Joel Little.

Needing to score to stay in the tie Annagh upped the ante in the closing stages with Jordan Campbell seeing a glancing header tipped over by Declan Dunne before, a few moments after that, the Swifts keeper was called into action to turn a Craig Taylor drive over.
