John Bailie has made his return as Ards boss, the Playr-Fit Championship club has announced.

The 48-year-old had previously taken the reins of the club between December 2019 and January 2022, and had also acted as first team coach under former bosses Niall Currie and Colin Nixon.

A club legend and former captain, he also made 285 appearances for the club during his playing career.

Chairman Warren Patton welcomed the appointment.

"When John expressed his interest in returning to Ards, it was a no-brainer that I heard what he had to say," he told the official club website.

"I don't think anyone can doubt his commitment and, most importantly, his knowledge of the Playr-Fit Championship.

"I wish him all the best and have assured him that he has full support from the Board Of Directors moving forward."

Bailie's first game back in charge will see Ards travel to face Annagh United at the BMG Arena on Friday night.
