'STUTE DRAW AGAIN BUT FRUSTRATION FOR THE GLENS

Institute battled to a third successive league draw on what proved to be a frustrating afternoon for visitors Glentoran at the Brandywell.

The Glens moved in front with a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock through Elvio van Overbeek's finish from the tightest of angles on the right side of the area after he ran onto Navid Nasseri's scuffed effort across the face of goal.

'Stute came close to an equaliser midway through the first half following a good team move which ended with Gareth Brown volleying just over.

They had another opportunity a few minutes later when Ryan Morrow found Joe McCready in the box but he was denied by Marijan Antolovic from ten yards.

However, the equaliser did arrive a couple of minutes before half-time. A Conor Tourish free-kick wasn't cleared with Dean Curry touching the ball on for Niall Grace to blast home from 12 yards.

Glentoran created a number of chances after the break in an attempt to regain the lead.

Hrvoje Plum's low corner reached van Overbeek but his goalbound effort was well saved by Rory Brown while Nasseri blazed the rebound over.

Marcus Kane then saw a cross deflected onto the crossbar while Robbie McDaid's attempt from the rebound was blocked by Tourish on the line.

After that Rory Brown needed to be alert to deal with a Plum free-kick on the edge of the box and again after that with a diving save to tip Gavin Peers' header over.

And Glentoran's frustrations were perhaps summed up in the closing minute when substitute Cameron Stewart had a header cleared off the line and van Overbeek hit the woodwork from the corner that followed.
