Linfield clocked up a sixth win in as many outings to maintain their perfect start with victory over Glenavon at Windsor Park.
The sides traded chances during the opening exchanges, Michael O'Connor firing a free-kick just wide from distance while Navid Nasseri just failing to beat Jonny Tuffey from Kyle McClean's cross.
Linfield moved in front on 25 minutes. Nasseri lifted the ball over the top for Stephen Fallon to run on to and lob Tuffey with a composed finish.
Glenavon almost levelled straightaway through Conor McCloskey only for Chris Johns to show excellent reflexes to make a one-handed save.
It was almost 2-0 seven minutes into the second half but Sean Ward kept Glenavon in proceedings with a goalline clearance to thwart Jimmy Callacher's strike from Niall Quinn's corner.
McCloskey came close for Glenavon on the hour with a 25-yard free-kick just wide while Ward then fired just over ten minutes after that.
However, substitute Shayne Lavery made sure of the points for Linfield with just under a quarter-of-an-hour to go when he pounced on the loose ball from a Christy Manzinga header to turn it home from close range.
