Two Rory Donnelly goals helped Glentoran to victory over bottom of the table Dungannon Swifts at The Oval.
He opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute after controlling a ball forward and firing low beyond Roy Carroll in the Dungannon goal.
Hrvoje Plum might have added a second a few minutes after that via a deflected free-kick but Carroll did well to make a low save to his left.
Further chances followed before, just before the half-hour mark, Donnelly doubled his tally with a looping header from around 40 yards after Carroll had initially made the clearance from a counter attack.
Chances were sparingly created after the break with the Swifts possibly coming closest on the hour when Rhys Campbell controlled a Caolin Coyle ball forward but found Rory Brown equal to the challenge.
Indeed, it was a much better performance from the Swifts following some recent poor results.
