Caolan Loughran opened the scoring for Carrick
Saturday, 24 November 2018
Goals from Caolan Loughran, Michael Smith and Gary Warwick saw Carrick Rangers cruise to a home victory over Knockbreda.
Carrick dominated proceedings in the first half with Smith, Craig McMillen and Lloyd Anderson all testing keeper Dean Smyth while, for 'Breda, David Fearon saw an effort saved by Aaron Hogg.
However, Rangers managed to find a way through just before the break when Loughran met a Nixon corner at the back post to fire a superbly struck volley beyond Smyth.
That pattern from the first half was repeated in the second 45 minutes with Smyth the busier of the two keepers, but dealing with all that was thrown at him.
But Carrick eventually doubled their lead six minutes from time when Smith finally got on the scoresheet with a header from a Nixon cross.
Then, deep into stoppage time, substitute Gary Warwick completed the scoring with a sidefoot finish from yet another Nixon assist.
