POINT FOR PORTS FROM WILGAR PARK VISIT

League leaders Portadown came from a goal down to secure a point from their visit to Dundela at Wilgar Park.

The Ports created the bulk of the early chances with Adam Salley sending a half volley over after 11 minutes with another effort following soon after before Liam McKenna tested Duns keeper Ryan McBride from outside the box.

At the other end Eoin Kane proved a constant threat for Dundela. He forced Ports keeper Bobby Edwards into a save on 20 minutes, then rattled the angle of bar and post soon after with a great strike from distance.

Another chance followed on the half-hour before, five minutes later, Kane eventually did find a way through with a superb strike past Edwards into the top corner.

Portadown's main route to the equaliser appeared to come through Salley but despite a few opportunities Matthew Tipton's side trailed at the break.

However, Dundela almost extended their advantage just after the hour when Tiarnan McNicholl twice came close inside a minute, sending one effort over before then forcing Edwards into a diving save.

But Portadown did grab their leveller with just over ten minutes remaining when Salley stepped up to convert a penalty past McBride into the bottom corner to bring his tally for the season to seven.

And he might have bagged another five minutes later only to send a fierce shot across goal from a tight angle while Ports defender Christopher Crane had a chance in the closing moments but sent his effort straight at McBride after a poor clearance created the opening.
