Two late goals helped Portadown defeat HW Welders at Shamrock Park and go back into third spot..

The Welders moved in front after 25 minutes when recent arrival Matthew Ferguson connected with a cross from the right to head home at the back post.

And Ferguson added a second five minutes from the break when he got on the of a punt forward to outpace Ross Larkin and fire across Declan Dunne into the far corner.

Portadown pulled a goal back six minutes into the second half courtesy of Adam Salley's header just beyond the reach of Ryan Brown after Ryan Carmichael had delivered the telling cross.

Then, with seven minutes remaining, Liam McKenna levelled for the Ports when he slid the ball past Brown following Gerard Thompson's cutback from the byline.

But the Ports weren't finished there and pushed on to secure the points on 86 minutes through Aaron Duke's emphatic finish from another Thompson ball.
