Robbie Hume (67)

City were the better side during the opening 20 minutes but could only point to an 11th minute Jimmy Walker effort over the bar as their best opportunity.

United carved out their first chance on 29 minutes when Colin Murray delivered the ball for Robbie Hume with his snapshot being parried by 'keeper Peter Murphy.

Hume had another effort go wide soon after while another chance just before the break was sent straight at Murphy.

The visitors almost moved in front four minutes into the second half after Kevin McArdle came in from the right only to fire narrowly wide of the far post - and not long after that 'keeper Paul Wells had to be alert to deal with a Keith Johnston effort.

Back came the Roesiders with a Lee Harkin hooked volley just wide of the post before, on 67 minutes, Hume finally found a way through after pouncing on a horrendous backpass to take the ball around Murphy before firing low into the net.

McArdle might have levelled not long after only to direct a close range header wide before, near the end, substitute Timmy Grant was thwarted by a superb Wells save.
