TOBERMORE END ANNAGH'S UNBEATEN RUN

Annagh United lost their unbeaten record with this home defeat at the hands of the on form Tobermore United.

The first real chance fell on 20 minutes when the dangerous Peter Duffin got in behind the Annagh defence for a one-on-one with the keeper, but Shane McPartlan got down low and hooked the ball from his feet.

Annagh then had a spell on top with a number of efforts on goal, but all shots from Ruairi McDonald, Craig Taylor, Ben Eagle and Niall Henderson fell wide of the target.

Tobermore came again with a spell just before half-time, hitting the post. But, following a corner, the ball broke on the edge and on 41 minutes Duffin was there to opening the scoring for Tobermore.

They continued to press after the restart and in first half stoppage time doubled  their advantage thanks to Jordan Thompson's close range finish after the ball fell for him off the crossbar.

Annagh pulled one back on 73 minutes when John Convery headed home Niall Henderson's corner while, not long after, Brian McIlmurray struck the crossbar.

It was all Annagh as Jordan Lyttle then headed one inches past the post but they were almost caught out when Duffin got in behind the defence and rifled one at an angle but the in form McPartlan made another great save.

On 80 minutes Annagh thought they had equalised when Tobermore keeper Lukasz Bednarz dropped the ball allowing Scott McCordick to nip in at close range but slotted the ball past the wrong side of the post.
