Banbridge Town have been crowned champions of Development League South for season 2016/17.

Banbridge were clear winners in the end with a ten point gap between themselves and second placed Lisburn Distillery.

Out of 24 games Banbridge won 17 scoring 82 goals (averaging over 3 goals a game) in the process.

Manager Christian Beattie, speaking to the Banbridge Leader, was delighted with his side's achievements.
"Obviously our priority is to develop players but I always believed that we need to compete as well. Players have to learn to win, to compete and to grind out results.

"Everybody can't put in a nine or a ten performance every week so they have to learn how to get the job done when that happens. We wanted to get a top four finish so to go out and win the league was probably a bit of a surprise.

"Everything just seemed to click. Everybody had a good pre-season and came in fit and raring to go. We just seemed to hit the ground running.

"I would like to thank the players for all their efforts, the Banbridge Town Supporters Club for all the help they give us, Stuart King and Ronnie Haughey for their work with the players and my assistant Anthony Blackburn as well."
