It finished honours even in the North West derby as Institute and Dergview met at the Brandywell.
The visitors moved in front after 14 minutes when the 'Stute defence failed to deal with an Adam Buchanan cross allowing Benny Igiehon to tap home into an empty net.
Institute levelled just before the hour. Dergview keeper Alan Buchanan was adjudged to have fouled Brendan McLaughlin in the box, with McLaughlin then stepping up to convert the subsequent spot-kick.
