Paul Owens sets off in pursuit of Jim O'Hanlon (Picture: Russell Pritchard/

RICHARD Gibson fired the Glens in front after just four minutes with a curling left-foot free-kick which ended up in the top right corner of Maros Valko's goal.

Gibson might have added a second after finding himself one-on-one with Valko while Jim O'Hanlon was also unable to beat the 'keeper with a turn and shot soon after.

Carrick levelled on 28 minutes, however, when Glens 'keeper Aaron Hogg could only parry a Kevin Lynch effort from the right with the ball bouncing back off the unsuspecting Sean Wardand over the line.

Then, in first half stoppage time, Paul McDowell put Rangers in front with a blistering 20-yard free-kick.

Gibson did have the ball in the net early in the second half after he finished off the rebound from a Ciaran Martyn effort which had struck the bar only for the former Coleraine and Ballymena United man to be ruled offside.

But the title-chasing Glens did get back on level terms on 65 minutes after Stephen Carson had crossed for Colin Nixon to head home from close range.

And Martyn edged Scott Young's side in front on 76 minutes when he met a ball from the right to send a backwards header past Valko from the edge of the six-yard box.

Within a minute, though, Carrick equalised courtesy of a Paul Heatley right-foot shot after he had brought the ball in from the left.
