Niall Henderson and Rory Donnelly chase the ball (Picture: Gareth Irvine/

THE Lurgan Blues needed just six minutes to move in front after Ryan Harpur touched the ball home at the back post from a Niall Henderson free-kick.

Then, two minutes later, the pair combined again only to be thwarted by a John Connolly save before Diarmuid O'Carroll skewed the ball wide from 12 yards after Henderson had delivered another cross.

Cliftonville might have levelled on 26 minutes through Rory Donnelly, this week called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad, who chested down a George McMullan ball only to be denied by a brilliant Davy O'Hare stop.

The Reds did get back on level terms, though, on the hour mark when, from a counter-attack, Donnelly teed up Ryan Catney to finish well beyond O'Hare.

And they moved in front on 73 minutes after Chris Scannell made the most of a mistake in the home defence to beat O'Hare.
