Two Darren McCauley goals helped Coleraine defeat Institute in the early kick-off at The Brandywell.
It took McCauley just nine minutes to open scoring when he found the bottom corner of the net direct from a corner.
The Bannsiders might have doubled their tally eight minutes later when Aaron Mullan played the ball on for Ciaron Harkin but his shot went inches wide.
But McCauley did make it 2-0 not long before the break, this time cutting inside and sending a tremendous finish beyond Martin Gallagher.
Institute came out fighting after the break, coming close early on when Ronan Doherty saw an effort turned away for a corner before another effort moments later by the same player was cleared off the line.
Then, just before the hour, Michael McCrudden smashed the ball off the crossbar from distance while, on 71 minutes, Dean Curry became the second 'Stute player to hit the woodwork.
With time running out Joe McCready was denied by a Chris Johns save before, right at the end, he went one better to secure a late consolation for 'Stute after Callum Moorehead found him with a long ball over the top.
