Newry City have made their first signings of the close season as they prepare for life in the Danske Bank Premiership next season.

Stephen Teggart (Banbridge Town) and Dale Montgomery (Loughgall) will both be stepping up with Darren Mullen’s side out of the Bluefin Sport Championship into the top tier for the 2018/2019 campaign.

20-year-old Teggart has spent 18 months at Banbridge Town, after joining from neighbouring Banbridge Rangers in January 2017. Since then he has impressed in the Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League with an impressive 12 goals in 24 league games last season from midfield.

Defender Dale Montgomery joins from Loughgall, having had spells at Armagh City and Dungannon Swifts previously. He scored in last season’s shock Irish Cup quarter-final defeat of Glenavon at Mourneview Park season.

Newry City manager Darren Mullen told the club's official website "Stephen is a player we’ve known about for a while now and one we are delighted to finally get into the club. He’s a versatile player and is at an age where I know he will develop even further at the club.”

“I’m delighted to make Dale the second new signing of the summer. He’s a lad who has played Premiership football and due to his performances with Loughgall this year has generated plenty of interest.

Newry City secured their place in the Premiership earlier this month with a playoff victory over Carrick Rangers.
