PREMIERSHIP TRIO CAPPED IN NI UNDER-21 DUTY

Three players from the Danske Bank Premiership featured in Northern Ireland Under-21’s friendly victory over Luxembourg on Thursday evening.

Glentoran’s Nathan Kerr and Glenavon’s Mark Sykes were second half substitutes, whilst late-call up Jamie McGonigle (Coleraine) also came off the bench after 70 minutes.

Bristol City striker Rory Holden proved the matchwinner after former Linfield winger Paul Smyth had created the opening after outpacing the Luxembourg defence to square the ball for the only goal of the game.

Ian Baraclough’s side now travel to Albacete for a European Under-21 qualifier with Spain on Tuesday evening.
