Glentoran Women have completed the signing of Tenerife defender and United States native Jackie Simpson, the club have confirmed.

Simpson has spent the last three seasons in Spain’s top-flight having previously spent three years as the captain of University of Florida-Bulls, where she was named the best defender in the league in 2015.

The central defender is native of Lithia, Florida and is a graduate of the USF Women's Soccer, where Sion Swifts goalkeeper and Jamaica international Nicole McClure previously played.

Simpson is the second American to join Glentoran this summer after the arrival of Jessica Davis, who previously played in Australia and Sweden.

Glentoran Women take on Sion Swifts Ladies in the Women's Premiership League Cup next Friday (28 June) at Seaview (kick-off: 8pm).
