Danske Bank Women’s Premiership title holders Glentoran Women will play Swiss champions Servette FC Chênois Féminin in the Champions League next month.

Billy Clarke’s Glens will take on their formidable opponents in Switzerland in a one-off tie on 18 August - having won their first league title since 2014 last season.

Servette’s ranks include several Swiss internationals along with Poland international forward Natalia Padilla, former Spain Under-19 international Paula Serrano and Moroccan midfielder Yasmina Laaroussi.

Glentoran are one of 43 teams in the champions path of the competition - the winners of each member association title ranked outside the top eight division on co-efficient.

The winner of Glentoran’s match against Servette will play the winners of the tie between Romania's Universitatea Olimpia Cluj and Åland United of Finland, while the defeated team will contest the third-placed playoff against the other side from that fixture.

The 16-team group stage of the competition will begin in October.

In 2019, Linfield Ladies defeat Greek side PAOK in the competition’s group stage but finished behind Anderlecht and LSK Kvinner of Norway.

Last year’s competition was shortened due to the impact of the pandemic, with the Blues defeated in a one-off match against Belgian giants Anderlecht.
