Jamie McDonagh came off the bench to grab a late equaliser for Glentoran in their Europa Conference League first leg tie at home to Welsh club The New Saints.

Despite a bright start the Glens fell behind on 13 minutes when Leo Smith jinked his way past Rory Donnelly, Rhys Marshall, Marcus Kane and Paddy McClean before facing down keeper Dayle Coleing and firing past the Gibraltarian to open the scoring.

Glentoran might have levelled on the stroke of half-time when the ball dropped kindly for Robbie McDaid but despite going through one-on-one could only fire wide from close range.

After the break Mick McDermott's side applied the majority of pressure with chances coming through Marshall and McDaid although, at the other end, Cieślewicz saw a curling effort well tipped away by Coleing.

Further opportunities for the Glens courtesy of an Andrew Mitchell header and a McDonagh poked effort, both saved by Paul Harrison.

However, the leveller eventually arrived with eight minutes to go with McDonagh going one better after beating the keeper to a McDaid ball to slot into the empty net.

And the Glens might have snatched victory late on when Conor McMenamin had an angled shot saved while Marshall nodded narrowly wide in stoppage time.
