Nine Danske Bank Women’s Premiership stars featured as Northern Ireland Women bowed out of the European Championships after a five-goal defeat to England Women.

A total of 13 domestic players featured in the group stage for the team, with Crusaders Strikers defender Julie Nelson the only scorer throughout the tournament – netting in the opening day loss to Norway.

Nelson started on Friday against England alongside Cliftonville Women duo Marissa Callaghan and Kirsty McGuinness with Glentoran Women’s Lauren Wade also selected.

Cliftonville duo Abbie Magee and Kelsie Burrows – who scored an unfortunate own goal late on – also featured as second half substitutes, alongside Glentoran midfielder Nadene Caldwell, Linfield defender Ashley Hutton and Crusaders forward Emily Wilson.

Other players to feature during the tournament included Glentoran duo Chloe McCarron and Joely Andrews and Cliftonville pair Louise McDaniel and Caitlin McGuinness.
