Ten Danske Bank Women’s Premiership stars were involved as Northern Ireland Women lost 2-0 against Austria Women in the European Championships.

Captain Marissa Callaghan recovered from injury to start the match alongside Cliftonville Ladies teammate Kirsty McGuinness, while Glentoran Women duo Lauren Wade and Chloe McCarron also started alongside Crusaders Strikers defender Julie Nelson – who scored in the first game against Norway.

Cliftonville Ladies trio Louise McDaniel, Caitlin McGuinness and Abbie Magee all came on as second half substitutes, alongside Glentoran Women’s Joely Andrews and forward Emily Wilson of Crusaders Strikers.

Goals in either half from Katharina Schiechtl and substitute Katharina Naschenweng were enough for Austria to secure their first victory of the game and leave Northern Ireland waiting for their first point.
