Glentoran Women Reserves and Sion Swifts Ladies Under-19s chalked up wins over Cliftonville Corinthians and Crusaders Strikers Under-19s respectively in Friday’s Women’s Premiership Under-19 Academy League.

Maeve McConaghy’s first half goal gave the Glens a half-time lead at Solitude before two second half strikes from Rachel McIntyre secured a three-goal triumph for the visitors.

Sion Swifts went goal-crazy in an action-packed 9-3 victory over Crusaders thanks to four first-half goals from Cache Crumlish-Hawes with Ellie Long and Claragh Quigg also scoring in the opening period to give the hosts a six-goal lead.

Zahara Leckey added a seventh just before the hour mark before Abigail Redmond and Rebecca Mann netted quickfire consolation goals for Crusaders.

The scoring was not done there as Crumlish-Hawes scored her fifth and Sion’s eighth of the evening and while substitute Darcie McNeill netted for the Crues late on, Long’s second and Sion’s ninth in injury time restored their six-goal lead.

Friday night’s match between Linfield Ladies Swifts and Derry City Under-19s was not played after being postponed, but has since been rescheduled for June 20th at New Midgely Park, kick-off 7:45pm.
