Newington are the Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League champions following a 6-1 victory over Armagh City at Solitude, but there are only three points between the four sides vying for a play-off spot going into the final two games of season.

The Swans went into the game with a four point cushion and knew that victory plus a certain set of results elsewhere would land them the title and promotion to the Championship for the first time.

Early goals from Aodhfionn Casey and Darren Stuart set the ball rolling before further strikes midway through the first half from Tiarnan McNicholl, Patrick Downey and Gary Warwick in addition to Robert McVarnock finish late on capped a memorable and historic afternoon for the club.

Bangor remain in the second spot but went down 4-2 at home to Limavady United, who are two points behind in fourth. The Seasiders led just after the half-hour mark when Jamie Glover twice found the net either side of an Alex Pomeroy spot-kick.

Pomeroy levelled for the Roesiders with his second penalty of the game not long after the break before goals from Ryan Doherty and a Nicholas Aretzis own goal saw United claim the win.

Banbridge Town joined the tussle for the play-off spot with a three-goal victory over Dollingstown at Crystal Park. Peter McGrath opened the scoring midway through the first half, with Sean og Gallagher added a second in stoppage time before the same player extended home advantage with 20 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Portstewart hit seven without reply past PSNI at Mullaghacall with Zach Barr scoring four to follow up on his midweek hat-trick! Kori Doherty, Ryan Doherty and Richard Vauls also found the net for the Seahawks.

And Moyola Park and Tobermore United equally shared four goals in the derby at Mill Meadow. Ciaran McKeever hit both home goals while Samuel McKelvey and Gary Keane were on target for Tobermore.
