Newry City left-back Noel Healy is the Championship Player of the Year for the 2021/22 season.

Healy was the outstanding performer in the Newry team that won the Lough 41 Championship and reached the semi-finals of the Irish Cup.

Healy said: “I’d like to thank NIFL and the Football Writers’ for this award. It’s an honour to even be considered for this prize.

“We have had a fantastic season and we’re really looking forward to life in the Premiership. I’d like to thank Darren Mullen, my teammates and everyone at Newry City.

This year’s NI Football Awards were voted for by the members of the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association and the Championship managers.
