Larne hit four at home to move back to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership following a thrilling Tuesday night of action that also produced victories for Newry City, Carrick Rangers, Crusaders and Glenavon.

Tiernan Lynch's side swept past Dungannon Swifts at Inver Park, needing just five minutes to open the scoring through Lee Bonis.

They then hit the woodwork and had a goal disallowed before Mark Randall added a second - and all before the half-hour mark!

The woodwork got a rattle again after the break before late goals from Leroy Millar and Tomas Cosgrove rounded off the scoring.

Glentoran, who had started the evening on top, went down 2-1 away to Glenavon for what was their first defeat of the campaign.

Aidan Wilson had fired the east Belfast side in front in first half stoppage time, but Micheal Glynn and Aaron Prendergast found the net within four minutes of each other midway through the second to tip the balance in favour of the Lurgan Blues.

Crusaders got off to a great start away to Coleraine, moving in front inside the opening minute courtesy of Snelgrove McCauley’s left-foot volley with Philip Lowry doubling up before a quarter-of-an-hour had elapsed!

The Bannsiders pulled one back later in the first half when Stephen O’Donnell’s header took a touch off Robbie Weir but ultimately the home side couldn’t craft an equaliser.

The big clash at Windsor Park between Linfield and Cliftonville largely failed to spark into life, finishing scoreless in the end although the Blues arguably came closest when Andrew Clarke headed off the inside of the post in the first half.

Newry City snatched a late winner as they defeated Ballymena United by the odd goal in five.

Kym Nelson had fired the Sky Blues in front inside the first ten minutes, but Noel Healy levelled soon after. Daniel Hughes then edged City in front midway through the first half only for the visitors to equalise courtesy of Ryan Waide’s 76th minute back post finish.

However, Brian Healy grabbed a dramatic 92nd minute winner for Darren Mullen’s charges to avenge Friday’s three-goal loss to the same opponents.

Meanwhile, Carrick Rangers inflicted a two-goal defeat upon bottom of the table Portadown. Cameron Stewart broke the deadlock in first half stoppage time before Emmett McGuckin doubled up ten minutes after the break.
