Danske Bank Premiership strugglers Portadown have parted company with boss Paul Doolin by mutual consent.

The Dubliner was appointed to the role on an interim basis in January 2022 and went on to earn promotion back to the top flight at the end of last season before taking over on a permanent basis.

However a disappointing start to the campaign has produced only one point from Portadown's first 11 games leaving them three points adrift at the foot of the table.

In a statement on the official club website Doolin said: “I wish to place on record my sincere thanks to the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Directors, backroom staff, the General Manager and all connected with the club for their help and assistance during my time at club.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity to manage one of my former clubs. I wish the club all the best and hope they go on to achieve every success.”

The club thanked Doolin for his efforts and wished him well for the future.
