Another exciting weekend of Sports Direct Premiership action wrapped up with a convincing victory for on fire Crusaders in addition to fiercely competitive draws at Windsor Park and Solitude.

The Crues made it four wins from four at Newry City's expense at The Showgrounds.

Ben Kennedy - who hit four on Tuesday night - struck again early in the game to open the scoring with a simple close range finish from Adam Lecky's knock on.

Daniel Larmour doubled up for Stephen Baxter's side around the half-hour mark when Kennedy found him unmarked at the back post to nod the ball home.

The Crues extended their advantage on the hour as Lecky finally got his name on the scoresheet after rising highest to nod home Ross Clarke's looping ball from the right.

Then, with a quarter-of-an-hour to go, Lecky doubled up after latching onto a Kennedy pass to lift the ball over keeper Steven Maguire.

Carrick Rangers recovered from a challenging week to carve out a well deserved point from Linfield at Windsor Park.

After shipping nine goals on Tuesday night, the visitors came out in determined fashion and duly moved in front on 19 minutes when David Cushley latched onto a loose ball in midfield before moving forward and firing low into the bottom left corner.

Linfield levelled midway through the first half. Cushley was penalised for a foul on Kyle McClean inside the box with Chris Shields stepping up to convert the subsequent spot-kick.

Then, just after the half-hour mark, Matthew Clarke edged the Blues in front after running onto a McClean header to slot the ball beyond keeper Ross Glendinning.

But, barely a couple of minutes after that, Daniel Purkis equalised for Carrick when he crept in at the near post to direct home a Ben Tilney left-sided cross.

That was how it stayed until a quarter-of-an-hour to go when Ben Hall met a Kirk Millar free-kick to nod the finish past Glendinning.

However, Carrick and Purkis hit back once again a few minutes later with a close range header from Nedas Maciulaitis' cross to earn a share of the spoils.

And the weekend wrapped up on Saturday evening when Cliftonville and Larne shared the spoils in a closely fought clash at Solitude.

Cliftonville did grabbed the advantage on 35 minutes when Wilson fired home a stunning first time finish into the bottom corner from Rory Hale's pass.

Larne hit back just before the break. They were awarded a penalty following Jonny Addis' foul on Micheal Glynn but Lee Bonis' subsequent spot-kick was initially saved by Gartside before he followed up to blast home the rebound.
