Annagh United, HW Welders and Portadown made it two wins from two at the start of the Playr-Fit Championship while Dundela and Ballinamallard United picked up their first points of the campaign.

And, on Friday night, Bangor emerged on top from the North Down showdown with Ards.

The Welders and Annagh are tied at the top of the table after both won on the road.

Annagh needed just one goal to get the better of Knockbreda with the decisive strike coming through Ruairi McDonald just after the half-hour, although Ciaran McGurgan’s side could afford the luxury of a missed spot-kick early in the second half.

At Inver Park a goal in each half saw Paul Kee’s Welders edge past Newington.

Matthew Ferguson broke the deadlock on 32 minutes after being teed up by Jamie Glover, with Jonny Frazer making sure of the points late in the game from Michael McLellan’s flick.

Portadown are also on six points after a narrow victory over Institute at Shamrock Park.

The experienced Eoin Bradley bagged the only goal of the game around the hour mark with a finish from Eamon Fyfe’s a few minutes after coming off the bench.

Dundela roared back from last week’s heavy defeat to hit four goals without reply past Ballyclare Comrades at Wilgar Park.

Anto Burns opened the scoring from 20 yards midway through the first half, with Andy Hall adding a second not long after the interval. Charlie Dornan then added to Dundela’s lead with two goals in the close moments.

Ballinamallard United also hit four as they got the better of Dergview at Ferney Park.

Jamie Dunne opened the scoring with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock, but the visitors hit back later in the first half through Niall Fielding.

Mark Stafford headed the Mallards back in front early in the second half before Alex Holder went on to bag a double to put the game beyond doubt, although the visitors did grab a 95th minute consolation through Jack Parke.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, an Adam Neale goal on 61 minutes was enough to hand Bangor the victory over neighbours Ards in the big derby at Clandeboye Park.
